Osteoarthritis: Treating Wear and Tear with Regenerative Methods

Jul 15, 2024

Treating osteoarthritis: Regenerative methods to reduce inflammation and promote the regeneration of muscles, tendons, and joints.

Summer is here, and although cold weather is worse for muscles and joints, we also need to take good care of ourselves in the summer. It is well known that functional muscular disorders are less noticeable in the heat, as joints have more flexibility. Since degeneration is a continuous process – which is not as noticeable in warmer temperatures – it may become more apparent in winter.

In cases of musculoskeletal disorders, we always address functional muscular issues first. This includes muscle disturbances that accumulate either suddenly or gradually. The consequences of these issues are as follows:

This reduces mobility and strength, and in some cases, can lead to improper joint alignment. This results in improper loading and irritation, especially if the tissue is not unloaded but is slightly to severely degenerated.

This mechanism of overloading can lead to irritation – this can also occur in young patients depending on the overload – which requires anti-inflammatory therapy. We always try to avoid the use of tissue-damaging cortisone. Cortisone weakens healthy tissues and further damages already degenerated tissues. Therefore, we offer treatments like cryotherapy, cold plasma therapy, high-energy focused shock wave therapy, autologous blood/plasma therapy, and Axomera therapy.

Just like degeneration itself, the therapy for regenerating structures such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bones is a long-term, slow process. This can naturally be preventive, but it is especially important after addressing the inflammatory conditions based on degeneration.

Based on this, our treatment concept is as follows: eliminate functional disorders, treat inflammatory processes, and then proceed with regenerative treatments!

Our treatments focus on prevention and regeneration. Osteoarthritis, which is especially more noticeable in winter, is one of the conditions we treat to reduce inflammatory processes and directly engage in regeneration, aiming for a pain-free winter season.

We are happy to keep you regularly informed about our treatments. Our four-member team is always available to answer any questions!
